Mrs. Grievo's LA
952008_32155_0.pngWelcome to Mrs. Grievo’s L.A. class952008_32155_0.png
I am thrilled to be working, reading, and writing together with you this year.  The following are the procedures and guidelines of my room.
1.      When you enter the classroom, take your assigned seat and begin silently working on the daily edit or the penny for your thoughts in your penny books.
2.      Follow the rules in the student handbook.  Try to be a good listener and raise your hand to be recognized.  In addition, please follow directions the first time they are given.
3.      Do not leave your seat without permission.  If you need to go to the bathroom, nurse, etc…, ask permission and sign out before you leave.
4.      You must have the following materials for the class:
        a.      A three-ring binder divided into grammar, spelling, vocabulary, writing, and literature- I will three hole-punch all handouts to help you keep organized.
        b.      One notebook as your penny book
        c.      Colored pens for editing during Writing Workshop
5.      Be prepared.  Come to class every day with the proper books (covered), your binder, a writing utensil, and your agenda book.  Please make sure you have everything you need before you walk into my room.  The class is rewarded every day everyone brings all of their materials.
6.       Those of you who complete your assignments every week on time will be able to join the “Friday List Club” and be eligible to win a prize at the end of every month.  Have your parents check my online grade book weekly to make sure you have turned in everything.
7.      Homework should be ready by the date it is due. Assignments can be turned in early for extra credit.  If you have trouble with an assignment, do not come in with it blank.  Do the work so that I may see what you need help with.  All writing assignments must be typed and double-spaced or written in blue or black ink.  Just try to do your best!
8.      It is your responsibility to see me after you have been absent to get the assignments you missed.
9.       I will always end class early to go over homework assignments with you.  At this time, I would like you to write down your assignments in your agenda book.  Homework will always be written down on the whiteboard and can also be found on the homework hotline.
10.     See me immediately if you have a problem or if there is something you don’t understand.  I am available for extra help by appointment and will be happy to help you.
