Connections Class Overview
The Connections Class meets weekly in Grades 5-8. The goal of this class
is for students to use higher order thinking skills to complete real world
work projects. Students have the opportunity to use their creative problem
solving, teamwork and technology skills to complete activities that
prepare them for learning and working in the 21st century.

Students will alternatively work on projects individually and in groups.
They will have the opportunity to learn in ways that match their learning
styles and to show what they know in a variety of formats.

Every effort is aimed to help the students to become independent,
self-directed learners while showing respect for their individual
interests and abilities.

Students will have the opportunity to complete the projects assigned to
their classes or to sign a learning contract proposal within the first
week of an assigned project. Parent and teacher signatures are also
required for the contract.

Student grades can be found on-line. Typically there is one project per
marking period that must be completed one week before the end of the
marking period. It is the student’s responsibility to manage their class
project so that they complete it on time. Work should be handed in, in
grade level folders. Folders should include their names on the outside and
no other marks.
